10 September - 17 October 2010 Described by the poet Naomi Shihab Nye as a “luminous force of nature”, Bryan’s art is infused with joy and imagination. Co-Curated by Richard Entel, this exhibition presents select illustrations from his celebrated books as well as his handmade puppets created from found objects gathered along the shores of Little Cranberry Island where he calls home. The author or illustrator of more than 30 books, Ashley Bryan has won several awards in children’s literature, including the Coretta Scott King Award and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal. He is one of the New York Public Library’s “Literary Lions” and the recent winner of a Golden Kite award. A graduate of Cooper Union and Fulbright Scholar, Bryan retired as emeritus professor from Dartmouth in 1988.
