This is a weekend workshop meeting on Saturday and Sunday.
Add the beauty of gold to your sterling silver jewelry with 24 karat gold! Students will be introduced to the Korean art of Keum-boo - an ancient gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of precious metal to silver and other metals. Aura22 - a 22 karat yellow gold "paint" will also be demonstrated. Traditional and unconventional methods of Keum-boo application and the advantages/disadvantages of each will be discussed to help the student find the application technique that serves them best. Learn how to achieve a dark patina on silver to make the gold pop! Students will create a pair of earrings or a pendant of Sterling silver embellished with 24 karat gold using the Keum-boo technique. Add the richness of gold to your jewelry designs with minimal expense!
Students must be comfortable with a torch. Ages 17 and up.
A materials fee of $125 is paid directly to the instructor (average depending upon the metals market at the time of the workshop).
