Skill Levels: All Levels
Join us for this fun social event where we will be hand dying silk pillow covers. Los Angeles based artist and founder of Rooster Home Goods, Sara Flate, will be demonstrating the dip-dye technique along with a couple other twist-tye options. There will be several colors of dye to choose from and you will go home with a complete pillow- that you made yourself! Snacks and refreshments* will be provided (*alcohol will present) as well as rubber gloves. Kids are definitely welcome to attend this event but if they are under 12 years of age, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additional pillow covers and inserts will be available to purchase from the instructor for an additional cost. Remember we will be working with fabric dyes so be sure to wear your "play clothes"! If you'd like to bring an item from home to experiment with the dyes, please do so as we will have some extra available (ie: white cotton t-shirt, sheet, etc. There are a limited number of spots available for this class so act fast! Extra credit will be given to attendees who post their finished pillows on social media outlets! DFAC’s Cottage Campus is located in Weaver Park @ 1141 Broadway (US Alt 19 in Dunedin). The face behind Rooster is founder/designer, Sara Flate. She was born and raised in Michigan and is currently living in (and loving) Los Angeles. Sara's mother, a print shop owner, graphic and textile designer, quilter, knitter, painter and jewelry-maker, raised her right. With the local art institute as her stomping ground, Sara grew up with art, all kinds of it, around her all the time. Now through Rooster, she is passing along that passion for art and all that is fun and beautiful.
